Great reads
Great Leadership Books Make YOU a better leader! They're cheap, easy and they'll AMP your leadership style and REVAMP your leadership theories. Leaders are definitely learners and leadership books are cheap, easy to get your hands on and are quick on the uptake.
If you really want to grow into the best & strongest leader that you're capable of becoming I don't know of anything you can do to build your leadership muscle faster than becoming a rabid leadership learner.
Although I'm a leadership book junkie I've learned to take advantage of the internet for loads of learning for leaders. If you're not already familiar with Audible.com or TedTalks.com then you owe it to yourself to check them out. Of course there are audio books, leadership CDs from people like John Maxwell and Bill Hybels, and training programs by Tony Robbins, Bill Britt, Reggie McNeal, and more. I love to attend great leadership conferences like the WCA Leadership Summit each fall or the CATALYST Conference. And, increasingly I'm mining Itunes and Itunes University for podcasts and talks by some of my favorite leaders like Andy Stanley and Craig Groeschel.
The people I serve deserve a well-equipped leader working with the latest tools and techniques and armed with proper leadership theory operating in the most effective leadership styles possible. To give them that I have to be willing to get around the strongest leaders possible.
The reality is that I'm not often able to the get on the calendar of the very best leaders (but, it never hurts to ask!) but I am able to learn from them in all kinds of settings. I especially like leadership books because they're so portable, durable, and the 'batteries' never run out!

A book that I just picked up at a conference that I suspect will have a huge impact on me is called The Hole in our Gospel by Richard Stearns. When I remember to, I'll come back here and add a link about that book.
Another one that I picked up at the same conference is by Tamara Lowe and features some new work on 'Motivational DNA' and I'm looking forward to learning more. The leadership book is 'Get Motivated'.
You'll notice that many of these titles are not specifically 'leadership books', but they do deal with attitudes, spiritual foundations, ancient wisdom, sayings of Jesus and other great leaders. A leader is a person who is in the people business because as John Maxwell loves to say, 'leadership is influence' and he's right.
According to Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, there are '4 Pillars' of leadership success and they are
1. Spiritual Vibrance
2. Physical Fitness
3. Emotional Well-Being
4. Mental Fitness
A leader is a spiritual being wrapped in a human body charged with inspiring, directing, challenging, loving, engaging, and empowering other spirits wrapped up in humanness to perform at higher levels, to have break-through performances and to achieve their highest callings. So, the leader is responsible to fuel her/his spirit, body, mind, and emotional health with great leadership books, audios, DVDs, podcasts, blogs, etc.
Accelerate your growth as a leader by accelerating your pace on getting these great leadership books and others under your belt faster.
Enjoy the journey,
