Get on with your life!
The adventure of a lifetime begins when we decide to play the song that's locked up inside so that others can hear the tune and decide to sing along. Of course, there's always the chance that no-one will sing along at all. But, if the music is rattling around in your soul so loud that you have to sing it then good for you! Go ahead and take the risk.
It's takes guts to step up, sing loud and risk it all in front of others. But, I can promise you that there is no better way to live than out on the edge of failure and out on the edge of risk. However, most people will never risk big enough to accomplish anything great. Most people will settle for a little life that seems 'safe'. But, I can promise you that for most of us that's a slow path to a bad end. Playing it safe all the time leads to small living. For most of us at the end of our lives we'll wish we'd taken a lot more creative risks and sang louder, danced more, loved better and played the music in our hearts so that the world would become a better place. And, so that we would leave echoes that God created us to leave.
Courage is not the absence of fear, rather it's the mastery of it by feeling the fear and moving out boldly in faith anyway.
True success has spiritual roots and I believe the most successful person of all time is Jesus Christ. And, not only was He successful but He left us a master-plan for a life full of true success.
I'll share what I'm learning about taking Holy Risks and about Jesus' Master-Plan for Success throughout this site. If you are one who senses that you may be ready for a Holy Risk or if you lead a team that needs to take more Holy Risks this site is for you.
If you sense that I can help you in some way, just let me know.

I have the privilege of Pastoring & leading Phos Community Church. As a communicator one of the coolest things I've ever had the opportunity to do is to preach most weeks at Phos Community Church.

Yesterday my mom had knee replacement surgery and is doing very well.
I had the privilege to spend the day at the hospital with her and my dad and as I sat there in the quiet of her room as she was recovering I realized more than ever that I was in the presence of greatness. Ordinary, extra-ordinary greatness. The kind of greatness that lifts Jesus up and that makes the world a better place -- the kind of grace-filled greatness that gave me the courage to live into the future God designed me for. The kind of hard-working, courageous greatness that worked hard and figured out how to move forward in life despite obstacles and hard times -- the kind of greatness that made America great.
If you met em, you wouldn't see the greatness on the outside -- although they are beautiful people. If you spent a little time with them and heard their story and learned about all that they have overcome to be where they are and about how much they love me, my sister and their grandchildren, then you'd begin to sense greatness.
But, stick around a little longer for their stories to turn to how they are loving their neighbors with meals, taxi service to the Doctor, painting their church interior, taking meals to people who were flooded out of their homes at the other end of Knox County last year and more. You'd be exhausted from all the ways that they live love in a quiet way and you'd sense the simplicity and power of their greatness. And, you'd give thanks to God for working in their lives to love others so well.
Yes, I'm proud of my parents and so grateful to God for them each and every moment of every day. I've been wildly blessed by God through them as have many others.
Just had to give a shout out about the best parents in the world! [ Mom and Dad, if you happen to see this, you'll only be able to sense the tip of
Mom, Dad, I love you.

You've probably heard the phrase, 'seize the moment' and I generally think it's good advice -- unless your moment includes a skunk or porcupine or angry bird, none of which should be seized. Anyway, if you're gonna seize your moment you first have to recognize the powerful potential of the moment that you are in.
The moment you're in right now may seem overwhelming because it may be filled with the aroma of a stinky diaper or the whining of a tired baby. I promise this moment will pass quickly and you'll be left with only pictures and videos. If you're in a job situation that seems too much to bear seize the moment by embracing the inner strength you can build in this moment. Understand that greatest is not found on an easier path. There is power in your moment. But, if you don't recognize it for the gift that it is, you will not mine it for the powerful potential packed into it.
These are the only moments you have - the ones you are in right now. Open up your heart and take in the potential of it and drink it in as full as you can. Don't let them simply flow past you like water in a stream -- dip your whole self into the moments and let the wonder, the pain, the joy, the laughter and the tears and heartache all have their play in making you into a person who can hold each moment in open hands like one holds a Monarch butterfly but for a moment.
May you recognize the moment you are in and then mine the power of each and every moment moment by moment.
Godspeed on your journey as you mine each moment!
