Leadership Styles Attracts, Motivates & Moves Your Team or Drives 'Em Away...style counts! Leadership Styles motivate us to follow some leaders and chase us away from others.
If you want to lead well you'll need to hone your style! (but, not before taking care of some other business!)
Style is the first thing that we encounter when we experience a leader. Think Barrack Obama and you'll likely think of his 'style' and be drawn in or pushed back. Think George W. Bush and it's the same -- drawn in or pushed back. It counts because it's attracts and propels your team or pushes people back.
The challenge comes in that you can't 'fix' your style for the long haul unless you get under the hood of your leadership machine and fix the engine, drive train, and mostly the on-board computer (your On-Board Leadership Theory). These things that others can't see show up in ways that they do see & experience. Just focusing on your leadership 'externals' is like putting a fresh coat of paint on a 1969 Corvette that is rusted out with a bad engine & transmission. It can look good from a distance, but you're not going far in that car.
If you want to lead well; which by definition means that you take people to places that they've never gone before, then you've got to do the work 'under the hood' NOW.
We'll work on putting chrome, paint, and shine on you and your outside face here at JeffFuson.com, but I sure hope you'll dive under the hood and work on your 'leadership innards' so that you'll not only look & smell like a front-runner, but you'll perform like a winner all the time no matter what the road-conditions.
Dig around this site and my hope is that you'll spend more time working on what's in you than your style in the beginning.
Later on we'll learn about different styles right down to grooming and how you dress to lead. We'll even get into hand gestures and public speaking.
But, it's your life and this is your site for growing stronger as a leader, so work on whatever 'smokes your drawers' and enjoy growing stronger as a leader.
